Notice: No Kendo Training at Kenshikan on Nov 25

Dear VKR Delegates,

Due to the ANF Naginata Seminar being held at Kenshikan from Nov 23 to Nov 25,
The MBK kendo training at Kenshikan on Nov 25 (Sun) – 9:30 – 11:30am is CANCELLED
(Instead there will be an additional keiko this week at the Kenshikan:
Tomorrow, Nov 21 (Wed) – 7:30 – 9pm.)

Notice of Melbourne University-Gwangju Exchange Kendo Seminar 2019

Dear AKR members,

The Melbourne University Kendo club will be hosting a seminar on 8-10th February, 2019. This seminar will be led by current and former Senseis from Seoseok High School and Chosun University:

– Hyun Jun KIM sensei, 8th dan kyoshi – (Former Chosun University Kendobu Head coach)
– Dong Jin JEONG sensei, 8th dan kyoshi – (12th WKC Women’s Head coach, Former Seoseok High School Kendobu Head coach)
– Tae Ho KIM sensei, 7th dan renshi – (Seoseok High School Kendobu coach)
– Sang Eun OH sensei, 5th dan – (Seoseok Middle School Kendobu coach)

Accompanying the senseis will be delegates from the Gwangju Kumdo Association, plus 4 students from Chosun University and 6 students from Seoseok High School.

As some of you might know, Daniel Jeong sensei is an alumni of both institutions and thus, Melbourne University Kendo club has a well-established relationship with them.

Seoseok High School and Chosun University have consistently produced top level kenshi and members of the Melbourne University Kendo club have gained valuable experience from training with them.

We are inviting kenshi from other clubs to share this experience with us and to build friendships through such exchanges. We will be sending out registrations for this seminar soon, please mark out the relevant dates if you are interested in participating.

The schedule of the seminar will be as follows;

08/02/19 (Fri) Time TBC: Welcome Keiko
09/02/19 (Sat) 10:00-17:00: Seminar Day 1, followed by a welcome dinner
10/02/19 (Sun) 09:30-17:00: Seminar Day 2

2019 UTS Kendo Seminar and Open Shield Competition

Dear Kendo Clubs,

UTS Kendo Club is delighted to announce the 2019 UTS Kendo Seminar and Open Shield Competition on Sat & Sun, 1-3 February 2019 in Sydney is now OPEN, with guest Hanshi Hachi (8th) Dan Senseis, Toru KAMEI Sensei and Kazuo FURUKAWA Sensei!

The exciting seminar + competition package will continue from the 2018 Seminar and build towards another Open Shield Competition which will be held at the end on Sunday, to provide an opportunity to apply our learning into practice in both capacity as a shinpan and as a competitor.

Please see the attached Info Pack and Registration Form for more information.

Cost: $60 per person (Kids aged 16 and under with bogu are FREE).

Registration closes 27 January 2019.

We sincerely hope the seminar adds another milestone to your Kendo journey and look forward to seeing you here again!
