Sat 7/7 – Uni Games training (3-4:30pm at Kenshikan, Monash members only)

Sat 14/7 – OTSUKA TAIKAI

Mon 16/7 – Normal training
Wed 18/7 – Normal training

Sat 21/7 – Uni Games training (3-4:30pm at Kenshikan, Monash members only)

Mon 23/7 – Normal training
Wed 25/7 – Normal training + beginners’ graduation

Sat 28/7 – Uni Games training (3-4:30pm at Kenshikan, Monash members only)

Mon 30/7 – ** Shiai practise ** (TBC)
Wed 1/8 – ** Kata training **

All trainings in the Games Hall unless otherwise specified 😊

Uni Games trainings may be subject to change so keep an eye out for updates.

 

Change to next VKR delegates meeting date

Dear VKR Delegates,

Due to VKC preparations the next VKR delegates meeting has been rescheduled to August 19. Further notice will be sent out close to the date.

Fwd: Shinpan Seminar Sunday 5 August Kenshikan 1:00 – 3:00pm

To Victorian Kendo Clubs:

Yano Sensei will conduct a pre-VKC shinpan seminar on Sunday August 5 at the Kenshikan from 1:00 – 3:00.

All kendoka 3 Dan and above are strongly encouraged to attend, particularly those volunteering to officiate at the VKC.

The attendance of about 6 shiaisha 2K to 2D is also requested.

Junior Monthly Keiko at the Kenshikan

Dear VKR Delegates,

Monthly training sessions are being planned for junior members at the Kenshikan Dojo on the following dates:

July 22
August 26
October 28
November 18
December 2

Keiko will last about two hours and will take place in the afternoon, overseen by Noriko Matsumoto Sensei. The participation fee will be $2 per session. Senior instructors who currently instruct junior members or those who are interested in teaching are also invited.

Could each club reply via return email at your earliest convenieince if there are potential members of their club who would be interested in participating or instructing? If there is sufficient interest then we can move forward with the plan.

Invitation to the Melbourne Budokai Okada Sensei Seminar – Registrations open!

Dear VKR members,

Thank you to all those who submitted responses to the survey for expression of interest sent out a month ago – we really appreciate it!

We are now happy to announce further details and instructions on how to register.
Visit and Kendo Seminar – 27th July to 29th July 2018

Melbourne Budokai would like to invite you learn from, and practice with, our visiting Sensei:
OKADA Morimasa Sensei (Kyoshi 8th Dan)

Will also be joined by three other Sensei
ITO Masataka Sensei (Kyoshi 7th Dan)
MATSUO Hironori Sensei (Kyoshi 7th Dan)
MURAOKA Kozo Sensei (Renshi 7th Dan)

The program of events will be as follows

Official Seminar
Saturday 28th July and Sunday 29th July
Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre
30 Aughtie Drive, Albert Park VIC
Arrive by 9:00am Start 9:30am and finishing 4:30pm both days
Lunch: B.Y.O.
Dinner: To be confirmed
Seminar Fees:

Adults $70 for both days
Students $50 for both days
Adults/students $40 for one day
Students under 15 years old are free.
Seminar content: To be advised, but please bring bokuto/bokken.

We also anticipate that there will be a chance for an informal keiko session as follows. As this will be at Kenshikan Dojo, we may limit the number of participants on a first come, first serve basis due to the size of the dojo:

Friday 27th July
Keiko Session for 1 hour
Kenshikan Dojo
Arrive by 5:30pm, Keiko Start 6:00pm Keiko Finish 7:00pm

Registrations:

For VKR clubs:

1. We ask that club secretaries complete the spreadsheet attached for their members.
2. The payment details for the Melbourne Budokai bank account are also within the spreadsheet. We ask that for ease, that the clubs collect payment from their members and submit one lump sum.

For interstate guests:

1. Please submit your registrations to myself at kd.ventura17@gmail.com
2. Payments can be made directly to Melbourne Budokai at the time of your registration with your surname in the payment description.

Due date for registrations: Thursday 19th July, 2018.

We hope you can take this great opportunity to train and learn from these high ranking senseis whilst they are here.
Additionally, the dinners afterwards are a great opportunity to build on the connections made on the Dojo floor.
