A message from the AKR President

Dear delegates,

Please find below a year end message from the AKR President:

Dear State and Territory Presidents, AKR Boards Chairpersons, Committee and Board members and others.
(State Secretaries: Please feel free to send this on to members and anyone else)

As 2017 draws to a conclusion, on behalf of the AKR, I’d like to share a few words of appreciation with you.

So many people make a contribution to our environemt, in so many different ways, we are very fortunate.

Sensei, instructors, dojo founders, coaches, armourers, club and state presidents, secretaries and committees, event organisers, volunteers, shinpan, grading examiners, the person that walks in to a dojo for the first time, regular training attendees, sponsors, donors and many more, I am sure. The people who perform those tasks are just some of the people that add value to our activities and therefore support the overall AKR, state and dojo environment.

We all benefit from the work of each other; and this is what makes for a good federation.

Next year, 2018, will be busy, with some exciting new and old things happening.

Just two examples are –
A big focus will be on the World Kendo Championships, scheduled for Incheon, Korea in September.

In March-April at the Australian Kendo Championships, we will conduct a national level kendo competition for junior members for the first time.

Just those two events alone will lead to something better! Add local and state Kendo, Iaido and Jodo seminars, championships and we’ll be kept busy!

Thank you all for your work and contribution to improve and develop Australian Kendo, Iaido and Jodo. Thanks also to your families, partners, spouses and loved ones for the support they give to your dedicated Kendo, Iaido and Jodo pursuit.

Best wishes to you all for the festive season and for a safe and healthy new year.

Best regards,

Would you please forward this news to members?

MBK Training Times Over Christmas And The New Year

Dear delegates,
Please find below a message from MBK regarding their training times over Christmas and the New Year.
————
Greetings MBK Member!!

In no particular order:

1. The last official training session for Naginata will be this Saturday 16/12/2017 and the first official training session with be Saturday 13/01/2018. That said, there will be the opportunity for informal training on 30/12/2017 and 06/01/2017 (not on 23/12/2017).

2. At the moment that hasn’t been a decision regarding Iaido training so assume it is as per normal….though possibly not on Tuesday 26/12/2017. This will be confirmed hopefully soon.

3. For Kendo training the dojo will be not be open on Monday 25/12/2017, Tuesday 26/12/2017 and Monday 01/01/2018. There will be Kendo training on all other days though the length and format of the sessions may vary from the normal sessions. More than likely the sessions will be around 1 hour to 1.5 hours in length. The exact format will be determined by the senior member present.

4. There will be an End Of Year Kendo training session on Sunday 31/12/2017 – New Year’s Eve – as per last year. The dojo will open at 10:30pm and then training will start. There will be a small pause just before midnight to allow the participants to have a celebratory drink to usher 2018 and then training will continue for about 45 minutes or so. After training has concluded participants are welcome to remain to have a bite to eat and drinks as per last year….or should I say this year. Therefore people attending this event are encouraged to bring food, drinks, dessert to share with everyone. I certainly hope you can make it.

You will be updated if there are changes or firmer details relating to the above information.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Paul Bserani
Vice President Melbourne Budokai.
