Here are the details of this Saturday’s MUKEN taikai. Note that competitor registration is now closed. The below information is provided for those who would like to spectate. Good luck everyone!!
2017 MUKEN Taikai
Hi club representatives,
Melbourne University Kendo Club will be hosting the 9th annual MUKEN Taikai on 20th May, Saturday and would like to invite all AKR members to participate in this event.
It will be held in the West Stadium of the Melbourne Uni Sports Centre.
The format of the competition is a mixed individual knock-out, with the top two winners of each division progressing to the next division. There will be five divisions:
- Beginners (For members who began their kendo training in 2016 with no prior experience)
- Junior Kyu (6th Kyu – 3rd Kyu)
- Senior Kyu (2nd Kyu – 1st Kyu)
- Junior Dan (1st Dan – 2nd Dan)
- Senior Dan (3rd Dan – 4th Dan)
Entries may be limited due to time constraints, with earlier entries receiving preference. All competitors in the 3 & 4 Dan division will be expected to assist with shinpan duties for the lower grades. In this case, dress will be hakama and keikogi.
Registrations will open at 12:00pm on the day, with proceedings commencing at 1:00pm. Please view the attached flyer for more details, and share it with your friends and family.
There will be a $15 entry fee for each competitor. We would like to request for club representatives to complete the attached registration form, listing the details of the participants from your club. Please return this form to email@example.com and make the payment by May 13, Saturday.
